Time machine

I keep staring at this picture.

Snellmanninkatu 1918
Kruununhaka, Helsinki, 1918

That could be me walking on the street there, just a few steps from home. Seriously. I have that hair. I am that height. I almost have that coat, just a little shorter. That shadow is cast by our building, our dear home, a house that’s turning a hundred years old this year. I’ve always wanted to step back in time about a hundred years, just to see what it was like. Maybe I have?

I came across this picture purely by chance at Flickr, from a set that features several photos from 1918 Helsinki. Someone’s private photos hidden away for decades until now. Boy, I love the internet!

And here’s a little bracelet in vintage inspired colours. Amethysts, amazonites, pearls, glass and silver.

    Tiedätkö…olen ajatellut paljonkin sitä että entä jos olen ollutkin täällä jo aikaisemmin..? Toki déjá vu:ta selitetään monilla tavoin ihan tieteellisestikin, yrittäen näin kertoa että ei, ei ole mahdollista elää uudelleen.
    Mutta haluan uskoa niin, ja sillä hyvä!
    Minulla on muutamia paikkoja joissa tuttuuden tunne on niin valtava, että tuntuu että menen sekaisin siitä.

    mitä tulee upeaan rannekoruun…huokaus….Olen niin iloinen että joku ‘uskaltaa” laittaa koruun eri muotoja värejä EPÄJÄRJESTYKSEEN. Tarkoitan että kun teen korun, minulla on takaraivossa aina sellainen huutava ääni, joka käskee laittamaan eri värit, muodot ja koot SYMMETRISESTI…haluaisin tukkia sen äänen suun, koska ilmiselvästi se kannattaisi.

  7. A lover’s tale, the imagine under the bracelt you made, the shadow of the young woman walking down the street, your home nearly a 100 years old, and you the weaver of these threads, that wrap a beautiful story around us;
    Magic!

    Firstly, that’s truly a lovely bracelet.

    Secondly, you’ve been “tagged” (it’s an interesting sort of game some bloggers participate in). I was tagged last week and as part of the “rules”, I have to tag 7 others! You’re one of them & I hope you’ll join the fun!
