Quo Vadis, Vicit Leo long earrings
Quo Vadis, Vicit Leo long earrings
Oblivion collection returns in 2024 with a new set of beautiful strangers.
Adorable, chunky vintage porcelain/faience bauble beads were found from a vintage shop in Venice last summer. They are quite large (20mm x 15mm), handpainted and feature texts in latin, written with an adorable, slightly wobbly handwriting in block letters. The text reads "Quo vadis" (where are you going) one one bead and "Vicit leo" (the lion wins) on the other. Both beads also feature the letter "X" that can mean number 10 in Roman numbers. Also, X marks the spot, right? These beads make my imagination fly!
I do not know the original purpose of these beads, and neither did the nice and friendly seller in the shop. They had arrived from a local elderly lady who had brought several very chic and interesting clothing and accessories items for sale to this lovely boutique.
I have added beautiful silver findings, little black agate beads and elegant black Czech glass drops. The earring hooks are steel.
Length 6,5cm. As said, the beads are quite large and although they are not lightweight, they're not too heavy either. Comfortable to wear especially if you are already used to slightly bigger and heavier earrings.
Only two pairs ever made and now just one left of these earrings. Very special with a mysterious story and a timeless message.
