Villa Dora

Villa Dora

"Villa Dora" was a unique jewellery collection created for Villa Gyllenberg museum in Helsinki to be sold exclusively in the museum shop alongside their wonderful exhibition Schjerfbeck & Fashion - Art and Costume History 1880-1950.

Receiving this commission was truly a dream, and pure joy to create. Almost entirely vintage materials were used for this set of three different earring styles (short, midi and long) and one multi-fuction necklace that can be worn in at least four different ways, long, shorter, layered or as y-shape.

The powdery and blush rose and delightful green handmade glass drops are previously unused vintage from approximately the 1930s. They were found from a vintage market in Paris in November 2022 and have their origin at a Parisian jewellery manufacturer operating in the city from the 1880s to the 1950s. As by magic, the museum visitor has the opportunity to bring home a wearable memento with materials and colour tones coming from the same era as the artworks on view. The delicate drops resemble beautiful dots mindfully painted on a canvas, like the blushed cheekbones or painted lips of the women in Helene Schjerfbeck's portraits.

The Schjerfbeck & Fashion exhibition was on view at Villa Gyllenberg museum from 14 February to 9 June 2024. Villa Dora jewellery collection sold out in May 2024.
